[A thunderous, electrifying riff wails from his guitar, practically a boomburst across the walls of the gym. Obstagoon roars in sync with him, hyped up!!!]
[Perhaps unlike any battle he's had before, Piers and Obstagoon are in sync with the music itself - and timed with a gnarly wail from his guitar, the badger leaps in to take his stance on the gym floor, arms crossed over his chest in a display of toughness. A golden string connects them as well, and Piers sings,]
We'll show you what Spikemuth's made of!! Obstagoon, obstruct and BREAK'EM DOWN!!!
[Ok well singing about a block you're going to make isn't the best strategy, but. Whatever attack comes their way is going to be blocked by the defensive wall of Obstagoon's X-shaped guard!!!]
Allow me to counter with the pride of the Coronet Highlands!
[Ingo makes a specific hand gesture to signal to Gliscor. Yes it's more awkward to do dramatic hand gestures while all the strings are around, and he is slightly more cautious about making it, but SOME DRAMA IS INTEGRAL TO THE PROCESS.
Gliscor is testing this never-before-seen block with a Quick Attack. Maybe that will be quick enough to get in fast before the block? (It won't be, and it's a move that makes contact, to trigger Obstagoon's effect...)]
The second Gliscor clashes with Obstagoon's block, the badger's powerful roar throws him back and lowers his defense.
A dark, malevolent riff splits the air and Obstagoon knows what it means - following through with a throat chop to the Gliscor while it's vulnerable. He rushes in, swinging his arms outward from his chest to silence the glider's cries.]
[IT'S TIME FOR A SECOND, DIFFERENT HAND GESTURE! Gliscor tanks the throat chop, which hurts more with his lowered defense. But in retaliation, he follows with a super-effective X-Scissor, slashing down with his claws while Obstagoon is within range.]
[Wow! Shit! Even with huge investment in his defenses, Obstagoon staggers back in pain. At least it didn't have STAB but that was no good.
The music gets tense, a flurry of plucked strings.]
TOUGH IT OUT, Obstagoon!
[He hunkers down, arms crossed again - it might look similar to the stance for obstruct to spare himself the pain of another super effective hit, but Obstagoon is actually readying himself to Counter.
[Obstagoon is a menace... Maybe he really should have brought Machamp after all. Why is he so cocky! Researching unfamiliar Pokemon in books is boring, and researching them in the heat and thrill of battle is a lot more entertaining, for better or worse.
Ingo, under the assumption that this is going to be Obstruct again, is not going to let Gliscor do another move that makes contact.]
Keep your distance, Gliscor!
[Gliscor is going to use Stone Edge instead, rocks jutting up from underneath Obstagoon.]
[Stone Edge always hits hard (when it hits), but at least it's not super effective. As slabs of rock stab up from the gym floor, Obstagoon soaks up the beating, even as it punches through his fur and hide to the last threads of his health.
Teeth grit, that pain only fuels the strength in his blows as he lunges out from the stony landmine. Gliscor is eating the damage it dealt, and then some in one powerful blow.]
[It's for the best it wasn't a super-effective move that got used, now that it's being turned back on Gliscor. With his lowered defenses, Gliscor, too, is only barely hanging on after that counter.
There is a very good chance that Obstagoon will block again, but with health this low, who cares if Gliscor's defenses get lowered? They have to take any chance to finish Obstagoon off. Ingo signals for Gliscor to move in with X-Scissor again—in the Hisuian Agile Style, just in case getting the edge in speed matters, or can work against a wall like Obstagoon.]
[With both of their health so low, trying to Obstruct would only be putting off the inevitable. They would've been evenly matched in normal circumstances. That was what Piers had been gambling on - there was no way for him to foresee Gliscor's sudden burst of speed. Piers signals for an attack, but Obstagoon isn't going to be able to outspeed that X-scissor in time.
It cuts through the last of Obstagoon's tanky defenses - the beast keels over with a cry, losing consciousness before hitting the ground. In turn, Piers also falls to his feet. The music screeches to a halt in his defeat.]
Ahhhh, my apologies. This is mastery of the Hisuian battle style. I was trying to avoid using it without explanation, but I was already handicapping myself by using Gliscor instead of Machamp, so I allowed myself the indulgence...
Any Pokemon can be trained to have such mastery over their moves!
[Gliscor backs away enough for Ingo to be able to offer his hand.
The hand is still covered in multicolor strings, but a mere handshake will not cause too many problems.]
Excellent! Your battle was not bad at all. But, we seem to have done slightly better than you. We would really like to battle with you again! Please do ride with us again!
[A ginger handshake attempting not to get them any more tangled than they already are... Though the string connecting Piers to Ingo is now PURPLE AND GREEN.]
Another time. Maybe when I have more of my team...
[On Ingo's side it is a more yellowish green, now with a similar streak of purple. (Where is the color for thinking someone is soooo cool and passionate, platonically?!)]
Yes, that is correct! I will have to get in touch with Mister Kleken.

There's only so many buildings 'round here, mate. The real worry was getting tangled on the way... you picked a helluva time for a battle.

[Ingo looks starry-eyed. PIERS IS SO COOL AND PASSIONATE!! POKEMON BATTLES ARE SO EXCITING!!!]
—Gliscor! Prepare for departure!!
[He drops an old-fashioned Hisuian Pokeball onto the gym floor, and out comes Gliscor, connected to Ingo by a yellow-gold string.]

[But of course it's Gliscor who he's going to throw an arm around in joy. He pats his head, and Gliscor happily leans into it.]
